Life has a way of leading us to the right places at the right time. For me, real estate is not just a career—it’s a calling, one shaped by unexpected encounters, perseverance, and an unwavering belief that everything happens for a reason.
Before stepping into real estate, I spent nearly seven years as a professional photographer, capturing the essence of people and moments, including notable figures like Oliver Stone and Spike Lee. But over time, I felt my creativity running dry. I still loved meeting people and telling stories, but I knew I needed a change. The problem was—I didn’t know what was next.
Then came the moment that changed everything. One Sunday, after church, I decided to have dinner before my usual youth mentoring session. I had no particular craving, yet I somehow found myself walking into a Subway restaurant. As I sat there, deep in thought about my career, an old friend from secondary school walked in. We hadn’t seen each other in 20 years.
The excitement of reconnecting was overwhelming, and as we caught up on life, he told me he was a real estate agent. I shared that I was considering a career switch but wasn’t sure where to start. He took the time to explain the industry, how it worked, and what I needed to do to get my license. Then he told me something that gave me goosebumps—he wasn’t even a fan of Subway! That evening, he had been sitting in his car deciding what to eat. He was about to drive off to another place when he suddenly felt an urge to go into Subway, despite disliking the food.
If that wasn’t divine intervention, I don’t know what is.
With newfound purpose, I set my sights on becoming a licensed real estate salesperson. But the journey wasn’t easy. I took the exam five times. Each failure felt like a setback, a test of patience and faith. I could have given up, but something deep inside kept pushing me forward. On my sixth attempt, I finally passed. That moment wasn’t just about getting a license—it was proof that resilience, faith, and determination can overcome any obstacle.
My philosophy in real estate is simple: always put the client’s best interest first, no matter what.
One of my most memorable experiences involved a buyer who reached out after watching my YouTube videos. He was looking for a five-bedroom unit for his family, a choice that would have earned me a higher commission. But to me, this was never about money—it was about finding him a home that truly suited his needs.
Since the showflat had already been removed, I took him to the actual construction site. I wanted him to get a real feel of the location, so I encouraged him to walk around the area with his family before we met. That moment turned out to be life-changing.
As they explored the neighborhood, something unexpected happened. Three young children—around the same age as his own—ran out to the playground, playing freely, without their parents around. This simple scene spoke volumes. He saw firsthand how safe the environment was, how parents trusted their surroundings enough to let their children play unsupervised. That moment gave him the peace of mind he needed—he knew this was the right home for his family.
He decided on a very high-floor unit at Parc Clematis in Clementi. But just as we were about to finalize everything, we were told the unit had been reserved. The project IC tried to persuade me to convince my client to take a lower-floor unit instead. Many agents would have done so just to close the deal. But I couldn’t.
I told my client, “Don’t compromise on your dream home. If this is truly meant for you, it will happen.” There was a risk he might back out completely, but I trusted that if this was the right unit for him, it would come back to him.
A week later, the miracle happened. The high-floor unit was released, and not only that—it came with a $20,000 discount. It was unheard of for a developer to offer a discount on one of the last few units, but it happened.
Some might call this luck. I call it divine intervention.
Looking back at my journey, I see now that every moment—the chance encounter at Subway, the five failed exams, the challenges with my clients—was preparing me for something greater.
Real estate, to me, is not just about transactions. It’s about listening, guiding, and walking alongside people as they make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. I believe that when you act with integrity, when you put people before profits, and when you trust that the right home will find the right buyer, miracles happen.
Outside of real estate, I believe in pushing limits and exploring life beyond comfort zones. One of my most unforgettable experiences was scaling Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia. I spent three nights on that mountain, facing relentless rain, freezing temperatures, and the raw power of nature. At one terrifying moment, lightning bolts struck as close as 30 meters away, surrounding me with an intensity that made me think my journey would end there. Through sheer determination, I made it to the summit, where the sight of smoke rising from the volcano reminded me of both the dangers and the beauty of our world.
Another passion of mine is hi-fi audio. I love the art of sound and the intricate craftsmanship behind high-fidelity equipment. I even run a YouTube channel where I review hi-fi gear, and I’ve been fortunate enough to build a humble following of fellow audiophiles. To me, music is more than just entertainment—it’s an experience, a journey into sound that can evoke emotions, memories, and inspiration.
If you’re looking for a home, I would love to be part of your journey—not just as an agent, but as someone who truly cares. Because at the end of the day, real estate is about people, and every home has a story waiting to be written.
